This is how life has been for almost everybody and me too of no exception! These last few months have brought me a well assortment of flavors. Yes... Happy Passover Greetings to Friends

Its Passover time, and I found out that Passover 2008 is on April 19. Among my friends, only Jude is a Jew. And I remember in school, he was quite busy during this time. He had to observe a fast being the first born. And he use to mention Passover Seder, which we had no clue about. I was pondering over religions and associated customs for some reason, and researched about passover celebrations. Finally, over the Internet I found what Passover Seder is all about. Passover Seder is the Jewish ritual feast held on the first night of the Jewish Passover. The Passover Seder Plate contains six food items that are symbolic of the occasion. Six items include:
Maror and chazeret – Bitter Herbs
Chasoret- Made of chopped walnuts, grated apples, cinnamon, and sweet red wine
Karpas- Parsely, boiled potato or celery is used.
Z'roa – a roasted lamb or chicken wing, symbolizing the sacrifice.
Beitzah- A roasted egg.
Theres also a special bread called matzot and a bowl of salt water.
Thats what Passover Seder consists of.
Although I still do not know the symbolic references of the food items, but food being my all time favorite field of interest, I managed to know whats on the passover menu. Next time, I meet Jude, I can surprise him with my knowledge of Passover Seder Meal. Till then, I wish Happy Passover to all with these Passover cards.

People walk in and out of our life daily, but only the special ones called friends leave footprints. These footprints reminds us of them, even when they are not physically beside us. Not always we enjoy the company of friends. I miss my school friends immensely. Most of them have moved to other cities to earn their bread or explore other cities. Whenever I meet others who are still with me in my city, I get very nostalgic of the moment when everyone used to be present. Our gang is no more the same. From six friends, we are only three of us. 20 Days more to hit the New Year's eve. New Year 2008 is peeping through the horizon to scale up the spirit of festivities as soon as the Christmas is over. It's always a nice idea to plan ahead of time lets you end up with mess when ti comes to New Year. I'm really looking forward to make this New Year a perfect blast and preparing myself ahead of time. As soon as the Christmas be over I will start off with shopping for the New Year decorative. I'm going to launch a grand party this New Year for my pals.

Fireworks and lighting would be my prime priority. John and Samantha are going to look after the food part. I am planning to organize a small New Year firework> display with my friends this year and have already talked to the local fire station for permission. Not just sparklers and sky rockets, special attraction would be the fountains. This firework theme party would be qa memorable one for my friends and I'm going to reach out to them with special New Year Firework themed invitation.

Friendship Day Party With Jason and Friends

I'm planning to enjoy a memorable Friendship Day this year! I'm sure we're gonna have a blast, with Jason, Emily, Amanda, Sally, Laurie, Ron, Cory and other old friends. I have planned a whole day of nice activities, which starts at my place from the morning.

Jesus has answered my prayers! Jason, my long time school friend, is coming to town for Friendship Day. I am counting the days with eager anticipation. I remember the last time we met. Catrina and me have been friends for little less than 4 years. I can proudly say that she is the best friend that I have in all these years. I have been friends with her through an online friends website, and we became fast friends just after couple of days. Though she stays in a different city, I feel we are next door neighbors! Planning to invite all your friends on Friendship Day? If yes, a luscious coffee cake baked in your home would be the best treat for your friends. Here's a quick recipe:

You will need: 1 cup brown sugar, 2/3 cup all-purpose flour, /2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/2 cup butter, 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup white sugar, 1 egg, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 cups milk, 1/2 cup fresh blueberries, 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar for dusting

Directions: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a baking pan well with cooking spray. Mix 1cup brown sugar, 2/3 cup flour, and cinnamon properly in a bowl. Keep aside. Now beat 1/2 cup butter(you can use margarine) in a clean bowl and beat until creamy. Add 1 cup white sugar and beat until it becomes fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and keep beating it until smooth. Whisk together 2 cups flour, baking powder, and salt. Now add this with milk to the creamy mixture that you have prepared. Beat well.
Now pour half of this batter in the baking pan. Cover with blueberries, and add the remaining batter on top. Cover it with the topping of brown sugar topping that you made first. Bake this at 350 degrees for almost an hour, until it turns golden brown. Dust some confectioners' sugar after it has cooled down.

But hardly do we get the time to do so. May be some simple essential friendship vitamins like the ones given below might help. You can try them.

1. Pay attention. Keep tabs on the significant events in a friend’s life. Did her job interview go off well? Did she manage to find a good accommodation in the new city that she has shifted to? Check in.

2. Exercise your dialing finger. This is what most of us are lazy about!! Being close friends also means to keep an idea of the trivia of your friend’s lives. You can’t know them unless you stay in touch. Don’t quibble about whose turn it is to call. Just exercise your dialing finger!!

I wonder how one can express the true essence of friendship in a just a few words. May be that’s the reason they are called the poets and poetry is considered as one of the finest forms of expression. Probably that is the reason why every song is a poem first.
On the occasion of friendship day, I would love to share some of my favorite poems on friendship which have always filled me with a lot of warmth and happiness. Hope you like them too.

READY IN 40 Min

INGREDIENTS
* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 3/4 cup white sugar
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/3 cup vegetable oil
* 1 egg
* 1/3 cup milk
* 1 cup fresh blueberries
* 1/2 cup white sugar
* 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/4 cup butter, cubed
* 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease muffin cups or line with muffin liners.
2. Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, 3/4 cup sugar, salt and baking powder. Place vegetable oil into a 1 cup measuring cup; add the egg and enough milk to fill the cup. Mix this with flour mixture. Fold in blueberries. Fill muffin cups right to the top, and sprinkle with crumb topping mixture.
3. To Make Crumb Topping: Mix together 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, 1/4 cup butter, and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon. Mix with fork, and sprinkle over muffins before baking.
4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until done.

Friendship knows no boundaries. You may not even know what your friend looks like or they even may be from some other country or belong to some other culture, but still you can feel connected to them through letters or e-mails. We usually refer t them as our pen pals or pen friends.

The origin of this phenomena can be traced back to the Peanuts comic strip from the 1960s/1970s, where Charlie Brown tries to write to a penpal using a fountain pen (as ballpoint pens did not exist back then) but after several literally "botched" attempts, Charlie switches to using a pencil and referring to his penpal as his "pencil-pal", with his first letter to his "pencil-pal" explaining the reason for the name change.

Also back in the 1970s, syndicated children's television program Big Blue Marble often invited viewers to write to them for their own pen pal. On another children's TV show, “Pee-wee's Playhouse”, “Pee-wee Herman” would often receive pen pal letters. The Australian author Geraldine Brooks wrote a memoir entitled Foreign Correspondence, (1997) about her childhood, which was enriched by her exchanges of letters with other children both in Australia and overseas and her travels as an adult in search of the people they had become.

The experience of a having a pen pal is really wonderful. Here’s some one sharing it with us.

Making Friends Over A Good Conversation!!

Do you want to relax and be comfortable in a conversation? Do you end up feeling completely awkward instead? The art of conversation takes practice, but is not as hard as you might think. It will take some knowledge, practice, and patience, but you can learn to relax and enjoy a great conversation.

Dale Carnegie once said, "It's much easier to become interested in others than it is to convince them to be interested in you." If you are too busy thinking about yourself, what you look like, or what the other person might be thinking, you will never be able to relax. Introduce yourself, shake hands, then forget yourself and focus on them instead.

You can even do some research in advance when you know you will have an opportunity to talk with a specific person. Complimenting them is a great place to start. Everyone likes sincere compliments, and that can be a great ice-breaker.

What do they like to do? What sort of things have they done in their life? What is happening to them now? What did they do today or last weekend? Identify things about them that you might be interested in hearing about, and politely ask questions. Remember, there was a reason that you wanted to talk to them, so obviously there was something about them that you found interesting.

Listen. This is the most important part of any conversation. You might think a conversation is all about talking, but it will not go anywhere if the listener is too busy thinking of something to say next. Pay attention to what is being said. When you listen attentively to the other person, injecting a thought or two, they will often not realize that it was they who did most of the talking, and you get the credit for being a good conversationalist - which of course, you are!

Practice active listening skills. Part of listening is letting the other person know that you are listening. Make eye contact. Nod. Say "Yes," "I see," "That's interesting," or something similar to give them clues that you are paying attention and not thinking about something else - such as what you are going to say next.

Ask clarifying questions. If the topic seems to be one they are interested in, ask them to clarify what they think or feel about it. If they are talking about an occupation or activity you do not understand, take the opportunity to learn from them. Everyone loves having a chance to teach another willing and interested person about their hobby or subject of expertise.

Paraphrase back what you have heard, using your own words. This seems like an easy skill to learn, but takes some practice to master. Conversation happens in turns, each person taking a turn to listen and a turn to speak or to respond. It shows respect for the other person when you use your "speaking turn" to show you have been listening and not just to say something new. They then have a chance to correct your understanding, affirm it, or embellish on it.

Consider your response before disagreeing. If the point was not important, ignore it rather than risk appearing argumentative. If you consider it important then politely point out your difference of opinion. Do not disagree merely to set yourself apart, but remember these points:

o It is the differences in people--and their conversation--that make them interesting.
o Agreeing with everything can kill a conversation just as easily as disagreeing with everything.
o A person is interesting when they are different from you; a person is obnoxious when they can not agree with anything you say, or if they use the point to make themselves appear superior.
o Try to omit the word "but" from your conversation when disagreeing as this word often puts people on the defensive. Instead, try substituting the word "and", it has less of an antagonistic effect.

Consider playing devil's advocate - but do so carefully. If your conversation partner makes a point, you can keep the conversation going by bringing up the opposite point of view (introduce it with something like "I agree, and..."). If you overuse this technique, however, you could end up appearing disagreeable or even hostile.

Do not panic over lulls. This is a point where you could easily inject your thoughts into the discussion. If the topic seems to have run out, use the pause to think for a moment and identify another conversation topic or question to ask them. Did something they said remind you of something else you have heard, something that happened to you, or bring up a question or topic in your mind? Mention it and you'll transition smoothly into further conversation!

Know when the conversation is over. Even the best conversations will eventually run out of steam or be ended by an interruption. Shake hands with the other person and be sure to tell them you enjoyed talking with them. Ending on a positive note will leave a good impression and likely bring them back later for more!

Tips

• Keep a mental list of conversation-starters and be prepared with some information to share:
- current events of local, national, or even international significance
- books
- music
- movies, television programs, or other entertainment
• Before going to an event where you will be required to make conversation, read the day's news and brush-up on current entertainment news. This will provide some instant conversation subjects of current interest.
• Talking about yourself might seem interesting to you, but to the other person it might get boring - especially if you seem to be giving them your life story. It may be interesting, but give the impression that you are self centered. Best to leave some information for a future conversation.
• Think before you speak. You are less likely to regret things you have said if you take a moment to come up with a more polite way to say it.
• Keep in mind what kind of relationship you have with the other person. Generally, conversations with a new acquaintance should be more general and not of a personal nature. There are also conversations that would be inappropriate to have with someone of the opposite sex. Take care not to discuss subjects (e.g. sexual topics) that may make you appear too forward or undignified. If you find yourself in a conversation with one or more strangers or new acquaintances and the topic turns to something that might make you or someone else there uncomfortable, you do not need to join in. Look for a pause in the conversation and take the opportunity to change the subject or simply walk away.
• If you believe it would be appropriate, take a respectful and tasteful approach, but take a chance and discuss what may be "taboo" subjects. Watch for cues to determine if the subject is welcome. Some people would enjoy an open discussion of something that they might not otherwise talk about. If the subject seems to make the other person uncomfortable, simply drop it and move on without worry. This is part of navigating a conversation and does not have to signal an embarrassing end to it.
• If possible, observe the person and his or her mode of speech beforehand. For example, you'll probably be speaking differently with a teenage girl than with a senior citizen. Also consider the situation.

Warnings
• Choose carefully when asking personal questions. You do not want to venture into overly personal issues. Even if the other person might be willing to talk about it, you may end up learning things that you really do not want to know. You certainly do not want the other person to think afterward that you coerced them into revealing personal information.
• Be sincere! Compliments are great, but too much flattery is obvious and will reveal you as being insincere.
• Beware of topics that can be inflammatory - such as religion and politics - and don't venture into them unless you know the person has roughly the same convictions as you, or the circumstances otherwise allow for pleasant discussion. Again, it's fine to disagree and can be nice to talk about differences, but it can also be a quick step toward an argument.
• Try not to argue! You do not have to agree with everything someone says, but you do not have to tell them all about how you disagree. If you feel the need to explain an opposing viewpoint, express it simply and without putting the other person on the defensive. It is better to simply change the subject in a casual conversation than to get involved in an argument.
• Try not to nod or respond with "Yes" and "I see" so much. It might make the person think you are bored and sometimes it may seem like you are rushing them along.

Memorial Day is a public holiday set aside in the United States of America on the last Monday in the month of May to commemorate the brave hearts—the military service men and women of the nation. Memorial Day was initially conceived to honor and pay tribute to all those Union soldiers who gave up their lives in the American Civil War (1861—1865). But gradually, it expanded in its significance. And, after World War I, Memorial Day commemorated every one who died in any American War or in any sort of military action in the defense of the nation.

Memorial Day is a day to remember, reflect and honor those who risked their lives to protect the country, to protect America, and finally gave up, fighting like fierce lions till the very end. It is these bold and courageous souls that are remembered with pride and joy on Memorial Day. People visit families who have lost a kin in a war or they visit cemeteries and memorials to pay their tributes to the war heroes. Memorial Day is a day for silent prayers and warm remembrance.

But how did a Memorial Day observance start ?

There are numerous claimants to the actual origins of the Memorial Day. Many American cities and towns declare to be the actual place of origin of the Memorial Day. These include Georgia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Columbus, Richmond, Macon, Mississippi etc. But it is difficult to isolate one single unanimous origin to the Memorial Day holiday. It is quite possible that Memorial Day had many separate beginnings at the different towns and cities of America. However, in 1966, Waterloo (New York) was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by the federal government under President Lyndon Johnson.

Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day, as proclaimed by General John Logan of the Grand Army of the Republic in 1868. This Decoration Day was first observed on May 30, 1868. Decoration Day was so called because it was on this day that graves of the fallen heroes were decorated with flowers, wreaths and flags to pay tributes to their dedicated service in defense of their country. But the southern states of America refused to observe a common Memorial Day and continued to observe Confederate Memorial Day separately, with varying dates of observance from state to state.

Now, Decoration Day was first observed in 1868, inspired by local celebrations of the day in the many small towns and cities of America, where it has been taking place for the last three years since the American Civil War. During its first observance, General James Garfield delivered a speech at the Arlington National Cemetery, following which every one who attended the ceremony took part in decorating the graves of the umpteen Union and Confederate soldiers buried there.

New York was the first state to hold an official observance of Memorial Day in 1873. By 1890, Memorial Day got its due recognition and came to be celebrated in all of the northern states in the US. The southern states held their individual Confederate Memorial Day celebrations until World War I, when the significance of Memorial Day finally expanded in meaning to include all war heroes; all those who died fighting in the US military service, instead of remaining confined to just those who died in the Civil War.

Stages in Friendships between Women

Friendship is the union of spirits, a marriage of hearts, and the bond thereof virtue Friendship is an interesting dynamic. It involves two people who gather around a common interest such as sports, school, or religion. What happens when the dynamics change through marriage, death, or other friends? Can a friendship survive change? Definitions: Acquaintance: knowledge of a person acquired by a relationship less intimate than friendship Friendship: A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts Bond: A uniting force or tie; a link The terms people use to define relationships can be confusing to many. A person that you start talking to in the grocery line is a not a friend or acquaintance, but a stranger. Where the confusion comes in is when people start defining people they just met as friends. Maybe part of it is not knowing what to refer to them as in introductions to others, but mostly it is the misuse of the word.

Stages of Friendship

1. The introduction (Acquaintance): This is when the individuals meet. It could be through a mutual acquaintance, a team, work, or some other avenue. Most relationships never move beyond this stage. It is casual. They pretty much just know someone’s name or face.

2. Bonding: Some friendships form when people meet together, and they make the effort to get to know each other. Meetings, planning, sports are the major contributors to forming bonds. People can click around a cause or event. Clicking means they can go beyond the name to information about the person. It may just center on what they are involved in, at first, but real bonding takes place outside of the context that originally created the introduction.

3.Becoming Friends: A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away." - Arabian Proverb

This is where people get to know each other’s lives, thoughts, dreams, etc. It is where people get to know each other more intimately. Friendships have their own dynamics. They can be close, but they always start with the surface stuff to establish trust. Trust needs to be earned. Boundaries are set or considered obsolete. No, one walks around saying, “here are the boundaries in our relationship” except on TV. Boundaries just become a part of the dynamics, though sometimes the boundaries have to change. Every relationship needs some healthy boundaries. Also, based on the type of friendship people will get to know their limits. Is this a friend that just wants to party, or someone who wants to be a part of your life? There is a difference between those types of relationships. 4. Close Friends: This is hard to define except to say that it is mutual. The two involved know what they can expect from each other. It could be help in times of trouble to emotional support while going through a divorce. The important thing to note is that each friendship is different, and should not be compared to another relationship. Nothing will kill a relationship faster than constantly being compared to another person. How do you know you know you are close friends?

A. You know each other well.
B. You can count on them to help when needed.
C. You communicate easily.
D. There is a bond, almost familial in nature.
E. They enjoy each other’s company

No relationship can just coast its way into intimacy. Some say that they take almost as much work as a marriage. Friendship is a choice that two people make, but both people have to agree to keep it going. One of the main complaints that people have is feeling left aside when the other person starts a relationship with the opposite sex. One of the best displays of friendship is the friends on the Sex and the City TV show. The relationships were balanced and honest. There was little jealousy toward each other, because they learned to include each other in events. Ending a Friendship There may come a time when a friendship must end. The reasons may be as simple as growing apart to the more complex fighting over a lover. Make no mistake about it, ending a friendship is as close to a divorce as one can get without being married. How does a person end a friendship and maintain their dignity? Do they talk it out or just stop taking calls from the person? Well, it depends on how close the relationship was. If it was a close friendship then there should be some closure for both people’s sake. There may need to be forgiveness even if the two do not agree on what to forgive. Forgiveness sets the parties free. Concerning forgiveness, if the problem that caused the split was so egregious that being in the same room would cause emotional or physical harm, then it can be done at home in the heart.

The example that comes to mind is having your dog bite you; once you get away, you will forgive it, but will you put your hand its mouth to make sure it will not bite? The smart thing is to walk away clean. Whatever caused the end should not become a factor in future relationships. One episode of Frasier really pointed this out. He was trying to figure out why he could not maintain his relationships with women. A great revelation came to him when he discovered that he was carrying around the hurt that other women had caused him. When he was able to release the hurt, he was able to pursue a healthy relationship.

Friendships are great when two individuals make the choice to love each other, prove their self to be trustworthy, and support each other through life’s up’s and down’s. The bond that many women share can cause jealousy from other women and sometimes-male companions, but a true relationship always maintains a balance with others. Sometimes people will part ways, but the best effort should be made to handle it with grace and dignity. Hurt should not be the only memory that a person walks away from a relationship with. The only way to have a friend is to be one.
